Jordan is small enough to cross in a day and dense enough to spend a lifetime on. That is the problem with planning a trip here. Everyone tells you to see Petra, and everyone is right, but Petra is one afternoon in a country of Roman cities, Crusader castles, Bedouin camps, oak forests, salt seas and a desert that holds its silence for three thousand years.

So we built eleven ways through it. Each one starts from a different reason to come.
